After Initial report of hospital found ‘signs of use of force’, final report rules out

HATHRAS: Ten days after its preliminary report on the 19-year-old Dalit girl who died recently had recorded “complete penetration” of the vagina by a penis, the department of forensic medicine of AMU wrote to the circle officer of Sadabad police station that in its final opinion “there are no signs suggestive of vaginal/anal intercourse. There is evidence of physical assault (injuries over the neck and the back).”

When TOI contacted the doctor, he declined to comment, citing the confidentiality of the report, and said the document would be produced in court.

A government spokesperson said ACS (home) Awanish Awasthi and DGP H C Awasthy had submitted a report on their interaction with the girl’s kin in Hathras, as directed by the CM.

“They heard the family’s demands and also met public representatives and senior police and district administration officials. They submitted their report to the CM in the evening, based on which he recommended a CBI inquiry.”

The senior bureaucrat and the police chief, who spent over six hours in Hathras, told reporters later that political delegations and the media had been allowed to meet the girl’s kin.
